ABOUT LFS

Laser Fusion Solution was started with the intent to manufacture parts using metal laser powder bed fusion (M-LPBF) machines. During this time, we found several broken-down machines that with some needed TLC could be fully functional again in the manufacturing sector. These machines are used internally for production and R&D purposes, and/or are available to have time rented on them by those who cannot afford their own LPBF machine. Through this process we have gain a reputation for go-to rapid repair of customers machines and now work with other companies.

Our lead scientists have each been in the additive manufacturing and specifically LPBF space for a minimum of eight years with significant research being performed during that time.

WHY CHOOSE US

Laser Fusion Solutions started in 2021 as a manufacturing center allows us to understand the bottom line. The team’s unique knowledge in research, manufacturing, and machine repair makes us an excellent place for people just getting into the field, or those looking to push the boundaries of what has been done. Because of these skills, services for refurbishing older technology or unlocking existing technology is now available. The team also performs cutting edge M-LPBF research for the future development of the field.

We win when our customers win, so if that is renting a machine to ease into the space before purchasing your ideal machine, unlocking a machine to perform research not currently available, or talking shop, we look forward to the opportunity of creating a win-win scenario for all parties involved.

Dr. Christopher Barrett

Dr. Barrett has a Ph.D. in Material Science and Engineering specialized in M-LPBF. His work as a metallurgist with in-situ sensors led to his desire to modify and customize machines for the purposes needed. During this time, he worked at America Makes and learned first-hand the great need for the average customer to have a steppingstone as an entry point into metal LPBF. Laser Fusion Solutions was started as a way to be a parts producer for those looking to get into the metal additive manufacturing space. To further achieve this dream, machines can now be rented by interested parties before a large investment is required to purchasing the final equipment.

Dr. John Middendorf

Dr. Middendorf has a Ph.D. in Physics specialized in terahertz frequencies. This work led to his initial work developing sensors for the LPBF field. He quickly realized the most production LPBF machines are not geared for the researcher which led to him learning to build his own customized LPBF machines. It is from this basis that Laser Fusion Solutions can now offer services such as novel sensor development and implementation, as well as machine modification for the purpose of R&D. Dr. Middendorf’s knowledge in the field of LPBF is unique and extensive. He has been on numerous research grants and publications and is a vital member of this team.
