His previous employments identified critical gaps in the small shop adoption of LPBF equipment, and he seeks to lower that barrier of entry through LFS.

Dr. Middendorf, Ph.D. in Physics and Electrical Engineering, specialized in terahertz (THz) photoconductive systems. His research led to advanced sensors for LPBF. Seeing a gap in research-optimized LPBF machines, he began designing custom systems, forming the foundation of LFS. His expertise in sensor development, machine modifications, and extensive research contributions make him a key asset to the team.
