Dr. Barrett, Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, specializes in Metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion (M-LPBF). His expertise in in-situ sensors and metal behavior drives advancements in machine learning and modifications at Laser Fusion Solutions (LFS). Previously at America Makes, he identified barriers to metal additive manufacturing adoption, leading LFS to offer machine rentals. Now, he leads in-situ monitoring and sensor development to enhance real-time defect detection.
Dr. Middendorf, Ph.D. in Physics and Electrical Engineering, specializes in terahertz (THz) photoconductive systems. His research led to advanced sensors for LPBF. Seeing a gap in research-optimized LPBF machines, he began designing custom systems, forming the foundation of LFS. His expertise in sensor development, machine modifications, and extensive research contributions make him a key asset to the team.
